Darryl Maximilian Robinson Shares Photos And Notes Of His Role As Bensinger In CCPT'S THE FRONT PAGE!

LA theatregoers have seen veteran and award-winning Chicago-born and stage-trained actor Darryl Maximilian Robinson appear in numerous roles onstage during his 14 years as a City of Angels thespian. He has garnered critical praise for his performances as Major-General Stanley in "The Pirates of Penzance," District Attorney Flint in "Night of January 16th," Booker T. Washington in "Ragtime," Butler John Lawless in "The Happiest Millionaire" and Henry Albertson in "The Fantasticks." But usually he has performed his work in small and intimate venues. However, this summer, he is sharing his talents in a somewhat larger forum.

Since July 13th, your humble servant in The Theatre, Darryl Maximilian Robinson, has had the joy of playing the comedic supporting role of Chicago Tribune News Reporter Roy V. Bensinger in The Culver City Public Theatre 2024 revival of THE FRONT PAGE. It has been adapted from the original 1928 Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur stage play and the 1940 Charles Lederer screenplay of HIS GIRL FRIDAY by CCPT President and Director Trace Oakley.
Winner of such honors as the 1981 Fort Wayne News-Sentinel Reviewer's Recognition Award as Outstanding Thespian of the Season for his critically-praised performances in professional summer stock ( including most notably Fagin in Lionel Bart's classic musical "Oliver! ) at northern Indiana's Enchanted Hills Playhouse of Syracuse, a 1997 Chicago Joseph Jefferson Citation Award for Outstanding Actor In A Principal Role In A Play for his performance as Sam Semela in Athol Fugard's "Master Harold And The Boys" ( staged at The Heartland Cafe Studio Theatre in the historic Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago ) as well as a 2015 / 2016 Los Angeles Elate Season Ticket Holder Best Actor Award nomination for his performance as Ernest in Tad Mosel's classic one-act of Life In The Theatre "Impromptu" ( presented at The Lincoln Stegman Theatre of North Hollywood ), Darryl Maximilian Robinson, The Founder, Artistic Director and Producer of both The Excaliber Shakespeare Company of Chicago and The Excaliber Shakespeare Company Los Angeles Archival Project, and who currently celebrates his 50th Anniversary as an American Stage Performer, is thrilled and honored to play the fine supporting role of Chicago Tribune News Reporter Roy V. Bensinger in skilled Adapter and Director Trace Oakley's 2024 Culver City Public Theatre 96th Anniversary Revival Production of "The Front Page."
