YOUR HUMBLE SERVANT IN THE THEATRE, 2022 MAKING THE WORLD HAPPENING AWARD WINNER DARRYL MAXIMILIAN ROBINSON, SHARES NOTES AND PHOTOS OF HIS ROLE OF THE ANGEL CLARENCE ODBODY, AS2 AND OTHERS IN A HOLIDAY SEASON STAGING OF PLAYWRIGHT JOE LANDRY'S "IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE: A LIVE RADIO PLAY"!
Nearly 11 years ago, in the fall months of 2013, in November and December, your humble servant in The Theatre, Darryl Maximilian Robinson appeared as 1940s radio actor, comedian and entertainer Harry "Jazzbo" Heywood who provides the voices of numerous characters including Harry Bailey, Sam Wainwright, and most notably, Clarence Oddbody, AS2 in playwright Joe Landry's "It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play."
By playing Clarence in this on-the-air rendition of the script based on the great Director Frank Capra's classic film, he portrayed an angel for the first time on a stage ( in this case, The Westchester Playhouse of Los Angeles ).
It was both a refreshing and intriguing experience.
And, yes, Clarence got his wings: "Darryl Maximilian Robinson, who plays George Bailey's guardian angel, child and other roles, is able to captivate the audience as well. While being the voice of Bailey's child, he manages to make the audience laugh throughout his hilarious lisps, high-pitched voices, and consistently wide-eyed expressions." -- Kathryn Cross, Theatre Review, "It's a Wonderful Life: a Live Radio Play," Easy Reader, November 21, 2013.
