ESC'S DARRYL MAXIMILIAN ROBINSON PROVIDES AN UPDATE ON HIS SEPTEMBER 2026 "THEATRE DON MAXIMILIANO" VIDEO SERIES!
The "Theatre Don Maximiliano" video series consists of a collection of distinct short, comedic improv/monologue videos created by veteran stage actor, play director, theatre producer and Excaliber Shakespeare Company of Chicago Founder, Artistic Director and Producer Darryl Maximilian Robinson and veteran stage and screen actor, singer, musician and ESC Creative Team Member Danny Belrose in September 2026. Continuing as a running narrative gag, the arc follows an enigmatic, mafia-style theatrical advisor ("The Theatre Don") navigating industry updates, street rumors, and his elusive nemesis, "Donnie Cusamano".
The narrative progression across the three videos unfolds as follows:
Video 1: The Debut (Labor Day, September 7, 2026)
Setting: Filmed at "Belrose Place" in Los Angeles (the residence of fellow Excaliber Shakespeare Company veteran Danny Belrose).
What Happens: After sharing a holiday meal at a local restaurant, Robinson improvises the creation of the Theatre Don Maximiliano persona. In this initial appearance, the Don targets his focus directly on the mysterious, hidden figure of Donnie Cusamano. The casual hangout transitions into an ongoing bit of performance art, interspersed with a lively guitar practice session with Belrose.
Video 2: Addressing the Rumors (Sunday, September 13, 2026)
Setting: Filmed inside the Theatre Don's private Los Angeles office.
What Happens: The Don returns to directly address widespread internet rumors that he was spotted sneaking in and out of Danny Belrose's house earlier in the week. He warns viewers to treat these whispers strictly as "rumors" rather than "conspiracy theories". He drops a cryptic warning directly to Donnie Cusamano ("if you're listening...") before pivoting to plug the upcoming 2026 Black Theatre Alliance / Ira Aldridge Awards Ceremony in Chicago and the critical importance of the November elections. He exits keeping to his personal code of "not revealing all."
Video 3: The Library and The Balcony (Wednesday, September 16, 2026)
Setting: Filmed on the outdoor balcony of the Theatre Don's private residence.
What Happens: In high spirits, the Don celebrates the Supreme Court's (SCOTUS) decision to safeguard mail-in election ballots. He charitably recommends actors, writers, and directors of limited means to spend the beautiful day reading classic plays for free at the Downtown Central Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library. However, his celebratory mood ends in a sudden cliffhanger when he notices a mysterious car with heavily tinted windows creeping up to the front of his building, sparking an immediate "Donnie Cusamano" panic.
