Darryl Maximilian Robinson Shares His End-of-Summer Mini-Review of 'Superman' at Regal Cinemas 14 LA Live!
MINI REVIEW OF "SUPERMAN" AT THE REGAL CINEMAS 14 AT LA LIVE!:
Film Lovers and Supporters,
Having recently viewed a September 5, 2025 screening of the latest "Superman" film with my good friend and fellow movie lover Christopher Sharpe, what I can state about this film is that it is a great, summer popcorn-munching fun movie experience, especially at Regal Cinemas 14 LA Live in Downtown Los Angeles.
"Superman" 2025 is not the very best of the DC collection, but it strives for excellence and shines at some critical key moments. First, the romantic relationship between Lois Lane and Clark Kent is complicated.
Lex Luthor bears a serious resemblance to U.S. Presidential Adviser Stephen Miller, and this well made film is without question a commentary on immigration, and how we treat immigrants in this country.
It is also a salute to human beings who adopt and teach and raise and love children who are not their biological offspring, and it reminds our entire world population THAT FACTUAL NEWS MATTERS!
James Gunn skillfully directs and co-writes this quite satisfying new addition to the "Superman" film series.
All the expected comic book characters and big screen action elements give regular fans familiar with the series what they expect from the franchise, while the film ( thanks to its solid screenplay ) has new elements and gives the feel of a different way of looking at The Man of Steel.
David Corenswet delivers a strong and effective and occasionally touching performance as both Clark Kent and Superman. Rachel Brosnahan both intrigues and delights in her role of ace reporter for The Daily Planet, Lois Lane, and brings the right comedic and romantic touches when even at work, she can't take her mind off Superman.
Nicholas Hoult takes the role of supervillain Lex Luthor to dark, and indeed, unexpected levels cruelty: but The Cruelty Is The Point. Seething hatred and contempt for others in every scene, Hoult makes his Luthor reflective of our current political times. The story Gunn has helmed works quite effectively, all of the supporting cast ( including Tony Award-nominated actor Wendell Pierce in what is little more than a fun cameo as Perry White ) are solid performers and like any good summer action film, the special effects are impressive.
Kudos to the Director, Cast, Crew and Designers of "Superman" 2025.
Special Note: Krypto the Super Dog is a scene stealer.
Final Score: Three of Five Stars: Excellent.
