Darryl Maximilian Robinson Revisits His 2019 Video Recordings of The Immortal Bard's St. Crispin's Day Speech
SHARING VIDEOS OF THE IMMORTAL BARD'S ST. CRISPIN'S DAY SPEECH FROM "HENRY V"!
Darryl Maximilian Robinson, a veteran stage actor and founder of both the Excaliber Shakespeare Company of Chicago and Los Angeles Archival Project, has performed and recorded the St. Crispin's Day Speech from William Shakespeare's Henry V on multiple occasions.
In December 2019, he recorded two versions of the speech in Los Angeles's Lincoln Heights neighborhood.
One was an outdoor "street theatre" version, shot on the steps of the Historic Lincoln Heights Jail.
The other was an indoor version, recorded at an undisclosed location in the neighborhood.
These recordings were Robinson's first public presentation of a full Shakespearean speech on the West Coast. Previously, he spent 15 years touring the country with his one-man show, "A Bit of the Bard," which included the St. Crispin's Day Speech. His video recordings of literary classics in Los Angeles are part of the Excaliber Shakespeare Company Los Angeles Archival Project. These renditions of the speech can be viewed on YouTube.
Robinson is known for his work in theatre, including leading and featured roles in the plays of William Shakespeare with the National Shakespeare Company Tour of New York, the Indianapolis Shakespeare Festival, and the StagePlayers of Northeastern Illinois University of Chicago. He also founded the Excaliber Shakespeare Company of Chicago, a multiracial, non-Equity professional chamber theatre.
Robinson has received a 2022 Making The World Happening Award for his online theatre-related offerings.
Darryl Maximilian Robinson currently resides in the Greater Los Angeles area and continues to pursue acting opportunities.
