Darryl Maximilian Robinson Notes His 2011 Role Of Don Carlos In Waldo Chavez Velasco's "Dreams Factory / Fabrica de Suenos" Presented By The Bilingual Actors Repertory Theater Company ( BARTco ) In Hollywood

One of your humble servant in The Theatre, Darryl Maximilian Robinson's, most favorite stage roles occurred in late summer of 2011, and it occurred only once. He was cast to serve as an English Language Understudy for the leading role of the miserly Latin American multimillionaire Don Carlos in skilled Director / Adaptor Julio Villegas' world premiere production of Salvadoran Playwright Waldo Chavez Velasco's "Dreams Factory / Fabrica de Suenos," which was being performed in both English and Spanish by the highly-talented acting ensemble members of The Bilingual Actors Repertory Theater Company ( BARTco ) upon the lovely and intimate stage of The Stages Theatre Center on McCadden Place in Hollywood.
In Waldo Chavez Velasco's intriguing and allegorical tale "Dreams Factory / Fabrica de Suenos," a greedy, selfish, and miserly Latin American multimillionaire, Don Carlos ( a childless widower ), anticipating his approaching death ( and fearing that his life of luxury, selfishness and ease might bring severe consequences for him in The Afterlife ), makes an arrangement with his longtime, loyal and caring financial manager and assistant, Luis, to create upon his passing a business institution whose sole purpose is to provide financial assistance and moral support to fulfill The Dreams of those less fortunate than himself. In essence, "A Dreams Factory."
Don Carlos firmly believes that by doing some true or great good with his vast fortune after his death might create a situation where he might be shown some degree of compassion and mercy in his Afterlife.
However, despite his very best efforts after Don Carlos' death, each and every client who is bestowed with the multimillionaire's gift returns to complain to Luis about how their newly financially successful lives are filled with sorrow, disappointment and despair.
The Spirit of Don Carlos is therefore compelled to return from the grave to try to help correct the spiritual, philosophical and corporate errors Luis has made.
Delighted to be working with such a gracious and talented group of local latino and latina actors and actresses under stage vet Villegas' fine direction, your humble servant, Darryl Maximilian Robinson, starred as Don Carlos in Velasco's "Dreams Factory" during a Special Sunday September 11, 2011 Matinee ( noteworthy particularly because audience members were asked before the performance to observe a moment of silence in memory of those lost on 9 / 11 and because it was the first time since his 2010 debut as Henry Albertson in a 50th anniversary revival production of Tom Jones' and Harvey Schmidt's "The Fantasticks" that Mr. Robinson had appeared in a stage production in Hollywood ).
It was a full house for "Dreams Factory" for that show and all of Mr. Robinson's fellow performers shined in their work.
Your humble servant was particularly delighted to play Don Carlos opposite the skilled Argentinean stage and film actor Gustavo Ranieri, who starred as Don Carlos' loyal assistant, Luis. And, after the show, your humble servant received fine praise and highly-positive feedback from the audience.
The role of Don Carlos in the 2011 Bilingual Actors Repertory Theater Company ( BARTco ) World Premiere Production of Waldo Chavez Velasco's "Dreams Factory / Fabrica de Suenos" at The Stages Theatre Center on McCadden Place in Hollywood ranks as #9 of Darryl Maximilian Robinson's Top Ten LA Stage Roles!
Most recently, Darryl Maximilian Robinson was named a winner of a 2022 Making The World Happening Award for his numerous online theatre-related offerings at Allevents.in during the early years of the Covid-19 pandemic.
