Darryl Maximilian Robinson Remembers His 2016 Los Angeles Elate Season Ticket Holder Best Actor Award Nomination for Tad Mosel's "Impromptu"
RECALLING A LOS ANGELES STAGE BEST ACTOR HONOR!:
In early 2016, some 7 years ago, one of the most wonderful experiences your humble servant in The Theatre, Darryl Maximilian Robinson ( a longtime Chicago stage veteran ), has had as a stage actor in Los Angeles was to play the debonair, but aging leading man Ernest in Tad Mosel's "Impromptu" with a marvelous cast that featured Casey Krubiner as Winnifred, Joey Trezise as Tony and Lucy Krubiner as Lora under the skilled direction of multiple Emmy Award-nominated television producer Jeff Zimmer at The Lincoln Stegman Theatre in North Hollywood, Ca
The revival of Mosel's short, and great, one-act allegorical comedy of Life In The Theatre was one of a quartet of short works in the 2016 Emmanuel Lutheran Actors' Theatre Ensemble - Elate production of "Just 4 Fun."
In July of 2016, Darryl Maximilian Robinson and his entire cast and director would be nominated for the 2015 / 2016 Elate Season Ticket Holder Awards and in August of 2016, Ms. Lucy Krubiner, who played Lora ( a Best Supporting Actress Award nominee ) and Director Zimmer would go all the way to win!
For Mr. Robinson it was an entirely thrilling experience to be nominated as Best Actor, due to the fact that he had not been nominated for or won a leading role acting prize since 1997 when he received both a 1997 Chicago Joseph Jefferson Citation Award as Outstanding Actor In A Principal Role In A Play and a 1997 Chicago Black Theatre Alliance Award nomination for Best Leading Actor In A Play for his performance as Sam Semela in the ESC's revival production of Athol Fugard's "Master Harold And The Boys" directed and presented by Mr. Robinson at the much-missed Heartland Cafe Studio Theatre in the Rogers Park neighborhood of The Windy City.
After 19 years, the 2016 Los Angeles Elate Season Ticket Holder Best Actor Award nomination for Tad Mosel's "Impromptu" was a true honor for Darryl Maximilian Robinson.
The fact that Mr. Robinson was nominated as Best Actor for Ernest in "Impromptu" is also interesting because "Impromptu" and "Master Harold And The Boys" are both magnificently-written one-acts!
Darryl Maximilian Robinson ( The Founder of both the multiracial chamber theatres, The Excaliber Shakespeare Company of Chicago and The Excaliber Shakespeare Company Los Angeles Archival Project ) considers his portrayal of Ernest in Tad Mosel's "Impromptu" his #4 Best Los Angeles Stage Role of His Personal Top Ten!
Most recently, Darryl Maximilian Robinson was named a winner of a 2022 Making The World Happening Award for his numerous online theatre-related offerings at Allevents.in.
