EXCALIBER SHAKESPEARE COMPANY FOUNDER DARRYL MAXIMILIAN ROBINSON SHARES SOME BING STAGE FACTS AND FALSEHOODS!
Greetings, Theatre Lovers And Supporters, your humble servant in The Theatre, Darryl Maximilian Robinson, must take a moment in his artistic endeavors to discuss, sadly, an occupational hazard that can befall many a good and honest performer's name and reputation if steps are not utilized immediately when false and misleading information is being dispensed.
Recently, the popular search engine Bing has released a collection of comments ( with photos ) that do not correctly or accurately depict this theatre artist's resume or credentials. And, if left unchallenged, could result in a future misrepresentations and flat-out lies about your humble servant's more than 49 years of service to The Theatre.
So, here are the facts displayed by Bing along with falsehoods attached to them:
FACT: Chicago-born Darryl Maximilian Robinson is noted as writer, adapter, director and star of "A Bit of the Bard" his original one-man show of Shakespeare and time-travel comedy which was performed around the country between 1987 and 2001 in no less than seven American states.
FALSEHOOD: Darryl Maximilian Robinson has never toured or performed "A Bit of the Bard" in the UK.
FACT: During his nearly five decades of public performances as a Non-Equity professional actor Darryl Maximilian Robinson has won critical praise for many classic stage roles, and occasionally a historic figure, including Sherlock Holmes in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "Sherlock Holmes: The Final Problem!," Sir Thomas More in Robert Bolt's "A Man For All Seasons," King Henry II in James Goldman's "The Lion In Winter," Andrew Wyke in Anthony Shaffer's "Sleuth" and Booker T. Washington in a revival staging of the musical "Ragtime."
FALSEHOOD: Darryl Maximilian Robinson has never appeared on stage as Ebenezer Scrooge, Count Dracula or the American literary giant Mark Twain. In 1980, however, he did appear on stage as acclaimed African-American poet and novelist Langston Hughes in Chicago Producer / Director / Playwright Marcus Nelson's "The Shakespeare of Harlem" presented at The New Concept Theatre in the Englewood neighborhood of the Windy City.
FACT: As Founder, Artistic Director and Producer of Excaliber Productions, Ltd. in St. Louis and The Excaliber Shakespeare Company of Chicago, Darryl Maximilian Robinson has staged and produced no less than 70 in-house and touring engagements of classic plays and original works.
FALSEHOOD: As Founder, Artistic Director and Producer of The Excaliber Shakespeare Company Los Angeles Archival Project, Darryl Maximilian Robinson has not directed or produced a single production of a live stage play! The ESC LA branch has solely produced short, video theatre renditions of great and selected poems and speeches from classic works usually recorded at notable LA landmarks and archived Mr. Robinson's previous work in other parts of the country.
FACT: Darryl Maximilian Robinson is a fan of the work of the late and wonderful British Shakespearean actor and director Sir John Gielgud.
FALSEHOOD: Darryl Maximilian Robinson has never had the honor of meeting the late Sir John Gielgud, never engaged in a 1988 interview with the late Sir John Gielgud, and his personal You Tube channel is not dedicated to the memory of the late Sir John Gielgud.
FACT: Theatre artist Darryl Maximilian Robinson is the author and owner of three unsold and unpublished screenplays.
FALSEHOOD: Theatre artist Darryl Maximilian Robinson has no plans or commitments to write a screen biopic based on the life of the late, great African-American Shakespearean actor Ira Aldridge ( even though one is long overdue ).
FACT: Accurate, correct and true information regarding the stage roles and directorial credentials of Darryl Maximilian Robinson can be found at his imdb, Broadwayworld, Everybodywiki, and Excaliber Shakespeare Company Los Angeles Archival Project webpages.
It is sad and unfortunate that your humble servant in The Theatre has to clean up a series of mistakes and misrepresentations of facts by The Search Engine Bing.
But...THAT'S SHOW BIZ, KIDS!
It falls to The Artist to keep others from lying about their credits, distorting their credits, or publicly misrepresenting facts about their credits.
And after 49 years in the performing arts, with involvement in more than 250 theatrical productions, here is one last point!
FACT: Darryl Maximilian Robinson is not GEORGE SANTOS!
