Darryl Maximilian Robinson Comments On The Tragedy Of Gun Violence
A Veteran American Theatre Artist Expresses His Point Of View On The Recent Incident In Kansas City, Missouri And It's Effect On The Nation
Children as well as Adults in this country should not be demonized and shot for Being Black while pressing the wrong doorbell.
Black citizens in this country have endured immeasurable pain and loss due to centuries-old, systemic racism and a current pretense by many extremist politicians and members of our conservative media ( who rush to highlight the absolute worst depictions of our black young people ) that it doesn't exist.
This is an old and effective and racist device utilized by some of the members of the news media to engender FEAR.
And, most tragically, it is difficult for some in this country ( including disgraced and dishonorable members of LAW ENFORCEMENT ) to get over their lifelong bigotry and hatred and unfounded fear of a race of people different than them while holding a loaded firearm.
Even when the person before them is a mistaken and innocent child. But shooting an unarmed teenager twice when they posed no threat whatsoever denotes how vile and sick AND CRIMINAL some of our fellow citizens are.
IT DENOTES NOT ONLY THE NEED FOR SERIOUS AND EFFECTIVE GUN VIOLENCE LEGISLATION, BUT HEIGHTENED HATE CRIMES LEGISLATION FOR RACIST PERPETRATORS WHO HARM UNDERAGED, UNARMED PEOPLE OF COLOR!
And the RACIST OCTOGENARIAN HOMEOWNER, ANDREW D. LESTER, who thought it was perfectly in his rights to shoot a Black Child IN COLD BLOOD, should not only be tried, convicted and sentenced to the maximum penalty under the law, he should be pointed out to the world as living proof that THE EVIL AND HARM OF RACISM IS ALIVE AND WELL IN THIS COUNTRY.
Members of his own family have shared some of his bigoted views on black citizens and other minorities.
He is a longtime racist who should be charged with a hate crime.
Because of racist and extremist thinking like his, workers that provide services at private residences should be on the alert.
Postmen, Utility Repairmen, Delivery Staff, Election Campaign Workers and Girl Scouts who are also People of Color should take the incident described to heart and avoid coming into contact with Racist Individuals, particularly in states that have Stand Your Ground Gun Laws.
May this wounded child, young RALPH YARL, be healed, blessed and prosperous in his future.
He survived what young Travon Martin could not.
BLACK LIVES MATTER, TOO!
